Saturday, June 29, 1946, was one of the most difficult days in the annals of the Jewish Yishuv in the Land of Israel over the entire period of British rule. Before the sun rose that day, about 20 thousand British soldiers and policemen raided dozens of municipal centers and rural settlements (primarily kibbutzim). This was a
well-planned operation that was intended to "break the Jewish Yishuv," which at the time was engaged in a difficult struggle with the British.
