Over the many years, the State was not the only thing that took shape in the National Institutions Building. The Knesset was also born in that place, nine months after the Declaration of Independence, and more precisely on Tu BiShvat 5709 (February 14, 1949).
Two major events preceded this: The first elections of the independent State of Israel, which were held on January 25, 1949. On this date, the citizens of Israel elected the Constituent Assembly, which was supposed to convene, draft a constitution, dissolve and then a new general election according to this constitution shall be held.
