Kol Yisrael. His words were the first to
be transmitted following the 32 minutes
of the ceremony.

"‫‏‬From today, the independent Kol
Yisrael will be broadcast. The end of the
British Mandate has arrived, and with it,
the voice that forced upon us many years
of distortion and irrelevancies has been
silenced. From now, with the revival of
the Jewish People, we have taken upon
ourselves a heavy task, a task that is a
privilege: this voice will speak the truth;
a voice conveying the hopes of our
people's spring. From amidst the storm
there arises Israel's independence. From
amidst the storm, the Voice of Israel will
speak out. It will speak of the realization
of a dream two thousand years old; a
dream in whose name people went up
in flames in ghetto rebellions and in the
fire of crematoria. Kol Yisrael will be the
speaker of a great mission. It will tell of
our resilience, the power of our defense,
the valor of the defenders of Israel. It will
serve as a mouthpiece for the Jewish army,
the people's army, in its battles. And it will have something to say to our neighbors. Feudal
rulers, pursuing power and profit, are pushing them to a catastrophic downfall, but many
have come to loathe the war against us. To them we speak in the language of their own
people. We say to them: Lend your shoulder to the building of our homeland. Our state
will be a democratic state; it will increase peace, it will maintain civic equality, it will bring
welfare and progress for all its residents. To the forsaken of Israel, to the entire house of
Israel, its voice will boom out. From now, the Voice of Israel is speaking to you. Listen to
the voice of Israel."
