Ben-Gurion delivered a first address to the nation over Voice of Israel radio,
a day after the state was established. The only name he mentioned in his
address was Chaim Weizmann's.

Washington dispatched to the President of the United States an announcement of the
establishment of the state and the installment of a Provisional Government, and the
American government immediately issued the following response:
