Saturday night movies in six out of the eight cinemas of Tel-Aviv: "Audience's
favorite stars"; "in natural colors"; "on a dramatic day inciting a storm of emotions"

were some of the phrases depicting the movies.

"Broom" (HaMatate) theater group, appearing at Beit HaAm, put on a contemporary
revue – "Our State, May It Live Long" by Martin Rosset, the pen-name of Maximilian
Rosenkranz, who, in the spring of 1948, enlisted in the Hagana for active service, and fell
in the battle for Jerusalem two days after the performance on the first Independence Day…

‫‏‬The Cameri Theater posters announced a coming attraction: Moshe Shamir's
original work, "He Walked in the Fields" (which was to become hugely popular).
‫‏‬Eight Tel Aviv cinemas showed films on that Saturday: "Allenby", "Esther", "Ophir"; "Orion",
"Mograbi", "Migdalor"; "Kesem"; and "Zohar". The most successful film was "Night and
Day", at "Orion" for the fourth week running. Cary Grant, in the role of composer Cole
Porter, was the Tel Aviv crowd favorite. At Migdalor the Russian film "Admiral Nahimov"
was showing, and was also popular.
