Jew, wherever he may be, might immigrate? 'Immigrate', and not 'enter illegally'? That he
might leave the countries of patronage, the death camps, the cemeteries of his ancestors
who died in sanctification of God's Name, murdered, butchered, slaughtered, led to the
gallows, hanged, suffocated in the gas chambers?
W ill the vision of the generations be fulfilled?

I am proud of Israel
That which Bevin's 150,000 well-armed and equipped soldiers did not achieve, has been
achieved by the miracle of Jewish freedom: there is no more Hebrew underground in the
liberated portion of our land.
A hearty accord of everything has arisen.
T here has arisen a full unification of a nation which in the past reached the pinnacle
of quarrel-mongering. A nation that has become a protective wall, from head to toe.
This being so, the nation will not fall. Such a nation will not lose its freedom.
S uch a nation will witness wonders; on the battlefront, too.

W ar diary
With each and every day of the war they [the Arabs] will exhaust more of their strength,
and we will reinforce our soldiers. They will grow further away from their bases; they will
face their platoons with their first, harsh trial by fire; they will encounter problems with
supplies and transport. We, on the other hand, will recover day by day. Help is on the
way. After the American recognition of our state, equipment and manpower will certainly
follow, and they are better trained and more enthusiastic than the soldiers of Egypt and
Lebanon.
W e shall gather our strength until a consolidated Arab front is created, a concentration
or unification of the various invading armies. And if we then break through that front, it
will crumble, and we will have won.

It is not by virtue of our own righteousness, but rather owing to the wickedness of the
nations, that God has 'made an opening for us like the eye of a needle.' The matter depends
