to Wohl House (The Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Philanthropic Foundation). With its modern
academic library, auditorium, support center for students and cafeteria, the Wohl Centre will be
a central focus for student activity for years to come.

restored by the Council for the Conservation of Israel Heritage Sites. One of the gatehouse
rooms will house a permanent exhibition of the story of the complex.
‫‏‬
Following the master plan, the Zefat Academic College management organized a competition
for an architectural plan for a medical education center, for the planning of new buildings and
for the development of the entire complex. The Rashi Foundation organized the competition
and six architects submitted their plans. The panel of judges included experts from the field of
conservation: Prof. Nitza Metzger-Szmuk, Prof. Mike Turner and his architect Ruth Liberty. The
competition was won by the architectural firm Vitkon-Zionov. In accordance with the judges'
recommendations, and after the proposals were analyzed, a number of guidelines for future
planning were laid down.
‫‏‬
The early stages of the new construction will focus on the western border and the eastern
boundary, and in the later stages, on the slopes of the complex.

•‫ ‏‬In the first phase, a medical education and medical simulation center will be built on the
western edge of the complex. The center will be housed in the renovated and expanded
London Society hospital building. The school of nursing will move to the complex and will
occupy the site of the historical outpatient clinics. There will be medical training and simulation
practice areas for health professionals, including physical therapy, and lecture halls. The
London Society's hospital will spring back to life as a student service center which will
include a cafeteria looking out over the impressive view.
